Highlights

In May 2009 compared with April 2009:
  • Food prices rose 0.3 percent.
  • Grocery food prices rose 1.0 percent.
  • Non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 1.8 percent.
  • Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.3 percent.
  • Meat, poultry and fish prices remained unchanged.
  • Fruit and vegetable prices fell 2.6 percent.

From May 2008 to May 2009:

  • Food prices increased 6.8 percent.
