Every five years there is an official count of the population and dwellings in New Zealand, providing us with a "snapshot" of how many people live in New Zealand and the number of dwellings, or houses, there are in the country, as well as providing us with a range of other useful information.
These Hot Off The Press information releases contain tables on:
- census night, usually resident population and number of occupied dwellings by regions, territorial authorities and urban areas
- iwi affiliation
- age group
- ethnicity
- languages spoken
- labour force status
- personal income
- smoking.
